Language Requirements

All internationally educated midwives (IEMs) must complete an assessment and gap training/bridging program.  Language testing results will not be required for entry into the Assessment process available in Manitoba.  However, you must speak, listen, read and write very well in English to be eligible to practice midwifery in Manitoba.  These skills will be tested during the written and clinical portions of the Assessment and Gap Training Process. Those individuals who have a Language Benchmark of 7 or higher prior to participating in the Assessment and Gap Training Process are likely to be more successful in the process.
